Building the Intelligence Layer for Engineering
Orain Labs is a deep-technology company building the next generation of engineering intelligence.
Beyond Text: Reasoning About Physical Geometry
We believe the future of engineering will not be defined by AI that simply understands text, but by systems that can reason about geometry, engineering constraints, physical relationships, and design intent. Our work is focused on building that foundation.
At the center of our research is ORAIN — The Geometric Intelligence: an AI-native engineering system designed to understand what engineers mean, reason about how a design should work, and translate that reasoning into precise, engineering-grade geometry.
"Engineering knowledge, reasoning, and geometry must exist within the same computational loop."
ORAIN System Architecture
ORAIN is built on a set of specialized technologies working together as one unified system rather than a collection of disconnected plugins.
Engineering Reasoning Engine (ERE)
Forms the reasoning layer of ORAIN. It evaluates design intent, engineering constraints, relationships, feasibility, and consistency before geometry is constructed. Rather than treating geometry generation as a simple shape-generation problem, ERE enables ORAIN to reason about why a geometry should exist and whether the proposed design makes engineering sense.
Geometric Engine
Translates engineering intent and reasoning into structured geometric representations. It acts as the bridge between intelligence and geometry — planning features, relationships, dimensions, constraints, and operations that can ultimately be executed by a CAD kernel. This is where engineering reasoning begins to become actual geometry.
ORAIN Forge
The geometry construction and execution layer. Built around robust CAD-kernel technology, Forge takes structured geometric instructions and produces precise, topology-aware CAD geometry. It is responsible for executing operations, maintaining geometric integrity, and generating engineering-compatible representations and formats. Forge is not the product itself — it is one of the core foundations that enables ORAIN to construct reliable engineering geometry.
Visualization Sub-Engine (VSE)
Provides the visual representation layer of ORAIN. It enables engineers to see, inspect, and interact with the geometry and design states produced throughout the system. VSE focuses on visualization and interaction — ensuring that complex geometric information can be represented clearly without becoming part of the underlying reasoning or geometry-generation process.
One System. Multiple Intelligence Layers.
Our goal is not to build another CAD interface with an AI assistant attached to it. We are building a fundamentally different engineering system.
Integrated Computational Loop
Where engineering knowledge, spatial reasoning, and B-Rep geometry construction exist within the same unified computational feedback loop.
Communicating at Intent Level
Working toward a future where engineers communicate with machines at the level of design intent, while the system handles reasoning, geometry, validation, and representation.
Geometric Intelligence
Transforming engineering workflows by eliminating manual translation bottlenecks between conceptual ideas and production CAD models.
This is the foundation of Geometric Intelligence.
We invite researchers, CAD engineers, and enterprise leaders to explore how geometric intelligence transforms physical product development.
